EYELINER BEFORE AND AFTER CARE

Following these steps is crucial for your eyeliner to heal looking great! I do my part in making sure your eyeliner look perfect, but you have to follow these steps as well! Please remember that both before and after care apply to your touch-up as well, so plan accordingly!

Before your appointment:

  • Discontinue using lash serums for hair growth like Latisse for at least 5 days.
  • Discontinue taking any blood thinners for at least 2 days.
  • Do not have any lash extensions on and make sure to remove at least the day before your appointment so eye are not sensitive or irritated.

To prevent excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

  • Do not consume alcohol or caffeine - including tea and soda, at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Do not take (or discontinue taking) Ibuprofen (Advil and all other kinds), aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, or any blood thinners, at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Do not smoke the day of your appointment, or at least 5 hours prior.

  • Do not partake in heavy workouts the day of your appointment.

  • No botox injections 1 month prior to procedure in eye area only.

  • If you wear contacts, you will be asked to remove them for the time of your appointment.

It is also recommended to have a good meal prior to your appointment.

After care:

The healing process is really important for proper ink retention and best results, so make sure to follow them carefully!

Aftercare for eyeliner is really simple.

Swelling, puffiness, and small light bruising can be expected immediately after the service and can take up to a few days to completely settle down. Regular day-to-day activities can be resumed unless, very rarely, a client who may already have extremely sensitive skin may notice more than usual swelling and redness.

We recommend on a week long of dry heal. Clearly, our eyes are naturally wet but just refrain from soaking your eyes area in water (shower/ bath/ swimming), avoid saunas, wearing eye makeup, applying moisturizer, etc.

  • Day 1: Wipe eyes with antiseptic wipe twice the first day. Do not touch them, make sure hands are washed and dried if you do.

  • Day 2 - Day 7:

    • Keep eyes dry, refrain from soaking them in water. in the shower or bath.

    • Avoid getting your eyes wet (including full body showers, washing your face, swimming, water sports etc.) as well as heavy humidity or sweating (including saunas, facials, hot tubs, steam-rooms, sunbathing/tanning, etc.) until the eyeliner has completely flaken off.

    • Keep showers short and cool, rather than long, hot and steamy. Use the brow shield each time you shower - provided in after-care kit. If accidentally wetted, pat the eyes dry with clean paper towel, but be extra cautious not to (do not use a used body towel to avoid infection).

    • Do not apply anything on the eyes after the procedure. No oils, creams, serums, ointments, vaseline/petroleum jelly. Dry healing only.

    • Do not scratch, rub, remove, or pick at the scabs. This can lift the ink out of the skin with the scab. Scabbing and the falling off of scabs can be annoying, but have patience and continue to follow instructions, and they will be fine!

    • Do not apply makeup on or near your eyes until scabbing has completely fallen. Be sure to have makeup wipes on hand as you can't wash your full face if wearing makeup on the rest of your face.

  • No Botox for at least one month after the procedure.

  • No lash extensions or fake/strip lashes until your eyeliner is fully peeled off and healed (5-14 days).

  • Refrain from applying lash growth solutions, such as Latisse, near and around your eyes area at least 2 weeks prior to your session and 2 weeks after for best healed results.

  • Applying any products containing lactic, AHA (glycol and lactic acids), retinol acids, vitamins A, C, and E directly on or near the eyes will fade your pigment significantly and quickly. This is long term, even after the scabs have fallen off, so check your face washes!

  • If you experience any excessive swelling, blistering, or puss, consult a doctor as the area may be infected.

During the healing period, the eyeliner will look quite dark and the shape may even look slightly different due to swelling or texture of the flaking. This is okay and will go back to normal once the flaking is done.

After they have fully flaked off, your eyeliner may look very faded. This is normal as well, as the skin is still healing itself and renewing under the flaking. As the skin heals over the next few weeks, the ink will gradually reappear. It can take approximately 40 days for the ink to pick back up. Any areas that have remained faint will be perfected at the touch-up appointment! Permanent makeup is a multi-step process and will definitely need at least one touch-up (4-8 weeks after initial) to ensure the best results!

Do not panic, the healing process can be a little worrisome but it’s all a part of the process to perfect the eyeliner!
